The Viton FKM Camlock Gasket is the upgrade for chemical and high temperature duty. Fluoroelastomer resists acids, solvents, aromatic fuels and oxidising media that swell or destroy nitrile, and holds up at temperatures well beyond what standard rubber tolerates.
It costs more than NBR, which is why it is specified rather than fitted as standard. But on chemical transfer the arithmetic is straightforward: a gasket that fails against the media leaks product, risks the operator and costs downtime, and the price difference between compounds is trivial against that.
