The Buna NBR Camlock Gasket is the default seal in cam and groove service, and the one fitted to most couplings as standard. Nitrile rubber handles petroleum oils, fuels, greases and general industrial media well, which covers the majority of camlock applications at a lower cost than specialty compounds.
Gaskets are consumable. They take the compression every time a coupling is made up, and they harden, flatten and split with age, heat and chemical exposure. A worn gasket is the most common cause of a leaking camlock, and replacing it is far cheaper than replacing the coupling or cleaning up a spill.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I not use an NBR camlock gasket?
With strong acids, ketones, concentrated solvents or high temperature service. Nitrile handles oils and fuels well but degrades against aggressive chemicals and heat. Use Viton FKM for chemicals and heat, EPDM for steam and hot water, or PTFE for aggressive chemical service.
How often should camlock gaskets be replaced?
Whenever the coupling leaks, and on inspection whenever the gasket looks flattened, hardened, cracked or swollen. Gaskets are consumable and take compression on every connection, so they wear out long before the coupling does.
Are camlock gaskets sized by the coupling?
